From 2010 while still working as a librarian at the Queensland Art Gallerry I started spinning, crocheting and dabbling in fibre arts. After damaging my hand crocheting brass wire I decided to pivot to painting and mixed media. Years of learning, practicing and collecting art supplies led me to a frustration with the expense of materials and an increasing dissonance with my growing environmental concerns. Until I had an aha moment and fell completely in love with collage. Found paper and the mindful consumption of materials has led to a way of making art that works for me. I do miss acrylics and other art supplies. For now though I’m committed to working with the constraints of developing an art practice with organic and plastic free materials.
