World Collage Day is an annual, international celebration of collage on the second Saturday of May initiated by the founder of Kolaj Magazine. One of the few magazines dedicated exclusively to the art of collage.
Since 2018, artists and venues around the world have held collage events which bring together people and community in a spirit of cooperation, support and creativity.
Participating in World Collage Day is something I have wanted to do since I first came to learn about it. So, to mark the day in 2024, I hosted a series of collage activities at The Churn Room in Dayboro.
Artist and collage maker John Massy opened with a lively talk about his exhibition, his passion for art and making. Following John's talk, my good friend and fellow artist Anna Guthrie, facilitated a two hour collage making session. Last but not least, the day we finished the day with a life model collage session, similar to life drawing but with collage!
