Amanda Gardner lives and works on Gubbi Gubbi land in the small town of Dayboro, on the edge of Brisbane City.
Her interest lies in the act of making itself, using it as a way to research and develop an understanding of subjects that interest her. Through an ongoing exploration of how media, images, and ideas intersect, her work is presented with a minimal, materially constrained visual language.
With an eye to eco-friendly practices, Amanda embraces materials that are non-plastic and recyclable. She uses a limited palette of rice paste, recycled, found and gifted resources, adopting philosophies of mindful consumption and minimalism to reduce the environmental impact of her art making.
Amanda is a self-educated artist who has been practicing in Dayboro since 2019. She established an ongoing critical conversation group called artLAB in 2023 and has exhibited in a number of regional exhibitions. In 2025 she was commissioned by Redcliffe Art Gallery as part of the biennial Fresh Eyes group exhibition, from which two works in the I used to be a mountain series were acquired by the City of Moreton Bay Art Collection.
