Since leaving work and moving to the country at the end of 2018, I’ve been making space for my creative practice. I live in the beautiful town of Dayboro, just outside Brisbane, restoring a bit of native bush, working in my shed studio, and connecting with the local community.

I started focussing on collage around 2020, recycling old drawings, paintings and found papers, playing with the idea of constraint and restraint, finding the interplay between simple and complex imagery.

Making my type of collage requires fewer tools and art supplies, allowing me to keep be as low impact as possible using materials which are discarded, plastic free, bio-degradable.

Writing is very personal. I use it to have conversations with myself, and as a tool to help understand art and art making. On the other hand, there is a curious vulnerability about making this personal thing public, even as it dissolves into the vast ocean of ideas, information, thoughts and feelings that is the internet.

trying something new

Have been reading Social Media Escape Club for some time now. The newsletter by Seth Werkheiser covers all sorts of ways to navigate social media. Given I am so sporadic on instagram and it takes me forever to create a post I thought I would try out Seth’s suggestion and put a social feed on my website. Just for those bits’n’pieces that happen every now and again. Let’s see how it goes…
